3 Key Ways to Identify the Quality of Laundry Detergent | Detergent Manufacturer Guidance

Laundry factories use a large amount of laundry detergent for washing fabrics, so choosing the right detergent plays a crucial role in achieving the highest washing quality for fabrics. However, most laundry factories may not have testing equipment to identify the quality of detergents. Therefore, it is necessary to rely on experience or observations during the actual usage process to analyze and identify the quality of detergents. Here are some ways to distinguish the quality of detergents:

1.Appearance:

Good quality detergent has clear, uniform particles (powder), good flowability, and a bright white appearance.

2. pH Value:

The pH value of the detergent solution can be determined using pH test paper or an acidity meter. The pH value of special silk detergent should be 7-7.5, while the pH value of fabric detergent should be between 9.5 and 11.

3. Stain Removal Power:

The stain removal power is an important indicator of detergent performance. The rationality of the detergent formula is directly related to its stain removal power. Different manufacturers produce detergents with different formulas, and they generally do not provide the formula. Therefore, it is difficult for laundry facilities to identify the quality of detergents by analyzing the rationality of the formula. Instead, they can analyze the usage amount, usage conditions, and a series of indicators. Here are some key points:

  • Good quality detergent with a reasonable formula and high-quality ingredients should result in no residual dirt during the main washing process at a low water level in the washing machine with a detergent usage of 1% at a liquid concentration. When using 2% liquid concentration, combined with an appropriate bleaching process, the fabric should have a dirt rate of less than 5%.
  • Fabrics washed with good quality detergent should not have any odor after washing. White fabrics should appear bright under natural light, while colored fabrics should appear vibrant.
  • When using the standard amount, the foam height should not exceed 14 cm after reaching the usage temperature.
  • The pH value of the detergent solution should be in the range of 9.5-11.
  • After washing the fabric with the standard usage amount, using high water level and reasonable water temperature for 3-4 cycles, the pH value of the washed fabric should be between 7-7.5.
  • Cost of use: Comparing the usage amount of detergents under the same washing conditions, for example, for the same type of washing machine, at the same water level, and with similar dirt levels and equal fabric weights, if detergent A costs 6.8 yuan per kilogram and detergent B costs 5.6 yuan per kilogram, and if detergent A requires 500 grams while detergent B requires 700 grams to achieve the same washing effect, with a dirt rate of only 3.4 yuan for detergent A and 3.92 yuan for detergent B, it can be seen that the formula of detergent A should be more reasonable than that of detergent B, as it requires less usage amount to achieve the same effect. Although detergent B seems cheaper on the surface, the higher usage amount ultimately increases the cost.
  • Whiteness and stain removal stability of washed fabrics: After washing several machine loads of white fabrics with the same type of detergent, it is generally not possible to observe changes in whiteness and stain removal stability. Usually, after 30-40 washes of the same fabric, a comparison with certain samples can lead to a conclusion.
